Helping Seniors Stay Cool in the Heat

The summer is off to setting record high temperatures and it leaves us all feeling a bit scorched. Our business partner just published their latest blog, It's a Hot One Out There - How to Beat the Heat.

It’s imperative that we pay close attention to our loved ones, and ourselves, when it gets this hot outside. Ways to help your loved one who may be living alone:

1) Stop by often to make sure the air conditioning and fans are working properly

2) Set up a schedule with friends and family to make sure visits don’t overlap and don’t allow for long periods of time to pass

3) Consider video cameras to help do safety check-in

4) Install a video doorbell to help manage visitors coming and going as well as making sure your loved one isn’t stuck outside.

5) Make sure to offer fluids regularly

6) Know when to get help. In-home caregivers offer ongoing support to you and your loved ones.

7) If the current environment is no longer suitable for safe and cool, please consider a move to a better suited living situation.
