Helping Families Have the Best Holidays
The holidays can be a struggle for any person, at any age, but we want to help improve that! Sometimes it’s about the expectations and honoring traditions that through the years, may have run their course.
How can you have the best holiday season this year? Do you best to honor your family’s history while cherishing the time with loved ones today. Don’t let expectations get in the way of the joy today.
Those affected with a Dementia diagnosis have a different struggle. Will Mom enjoy the Christmas music this year or will it be too loud? Do the lights bother Dad and keep him up at night? Is it safe to cook the ham for dinner, will they remember to turn the stove off? Will the hustle of the season cause unnecessary aggitation?
Remember to breath, take each day, each hour as it comes. Time together is more important than any gift or tradition. Maybe you can do more than you thought, and maybe you have to scale back a bit. Give yourself and others grace, what you’re all going through is hard.
