National Elder Abuse Awareness Day
If you suspect someone you know is being abused or neglected, don't let your fear of meddling in someone else's business stop you from reporting your suspicions. Your first step should be to try and talk with the older adult when the two of you are alone. Where to go if you need help? Every state has a service designated to receive and investigate allegations of elder abuse and neglect, also known as Adult Protective Services. In addition, the Eldercare Locator is a nationwide service sponsored by the U.S. Administration on Aging that connects older Americans and their caregivers with information on services for older adults.
As a Senior Living Advisor, we take this issue seriously. Our mission is to make sure our loved ones are placed into safe, loving, healthy communities or that the very best, caring caregivers are entering their home. If you are needing a change to make sure your loved one is safe, please call 402.305.8195.

Is There “Normal” Memory Loss?
Is there such a thing as normal memory loss as we age? If memory loss is more challenging and puts you or a loved one at risk for health and safety, there is help. As local Senior Living Advisors, we can help determine if a move to a community or in-home care can help you thrive. Please reach out to see what we can do for you!
Tips for Caring for the Caregiver
It’s important to take care of yourself, so you can better take care of others. Often caregivers can exhaust their ability to properly care for others when they are overly tired or mentally spent. When this happens, the patient can be exposed to situations that are not in their best interest. It may be time to consider other options including a structured in-home care program or a community-base setting for assisted living, memory care or skilled care where ample help is available.
